Board of Directors News

The Board of Directors meeting did not have a quorum in attendance and is being re-scheduled by Todd Haire.  If you have any items that you wish the Board to discuss, please forward them by reply to this e-mail or contact any Board member.

The new Club position of Meet Clerk has not yet been filled.  The Meet Clerk will assist the Meet Director in planning for meets that we host, and is expected to work on processing the signup sheets, the schedule of events, heat and lane assignments, awards, etc.  The Board is seeking a volunteer from the membership to serve as Meet Clerk.  Let a Board member know if you are interested is assisting with these responsibilities, or reply by e-mail. 

Schedule of Club Activities

Attached is the schedule of Club activities for 2007.  Note the three tentative dates for the meets that we will host at JCSU or UNCC.  The Board will finalize these dates in the near future.

Opportunity to Sign Up for Club Transportation to February 18 Masters Meet in Landover MD

Are you interested in traveling with the Club to the Sportsplex Masters Championship on February 18 in Landover MD?  We need a final head count for those Club members interested in bus/van transportation by February 11.  Note that the signup deadline for this meet is February 13.  Reply to this e-mail by February 11 if you are interested.  Each member will be responsible for all other costs.

The Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex (in Landover MD) website is www.pgsportsandlearn.com.  The phone number is (301) 583-2660.  To find the information regarding the track meets on the website, click on the fourth icon from the left at top (the icon looks sort of like a hurdler), and this will take you to the track and football page.  Under “News” in the left hand column is a link to the registration form.  Note the $35 late fee effective February 14.  Jerry Vaughn says he is signed up and ready to go.

2007 Club Membership

Current CT&FC membership is now 85, with 19 women and 66 men (see attached roster).  If you know of any errors in the roster please advise by e-mail reply.  The 2007 membership dues will be set by the Board in the near future – please wait for this information before sending in your membership.

Club Practice Schedule

Come on out to the UNCC track and work with the Club on your conditioning and training.  The official Club practice is 10:00 – 12:00 a.m. on Saturdays, weather permitting.  Several members are also training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4:30 to 7:00.  The daylight hours are indeed getting longer, but winter seems to have returned.  It was 42 on the UNCC track last night at 6:00 p.m.
