2007 Carolina Masters Track
& Field Invitational – April 14 at Johnson C. Smith University
The CT&FC will host the
Carolina Masters Track & Field Invitational on Saturday April 14 at Johnson
C. Smith University. Anthony James is the Meet Director and Ken Bender is
the meet information contact. The registration form is attached below and
is on the CT&FC website (www.carolinastrackandfield.org). YOU NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF USATF TO
COMPETE (join USATF at usatf.org). There is no meet
registration fee for 2007 CT&FC members (existing CT&FC members
need to send $20 to Ken Bender for CT&FC membership dues for 2007 - new
members can join on the website.) The meet
registration fee for non-members is $25. The registration deadline
is April 11. Due to the late start in announcing this meet, please help
spread the word so that we can have a good turnout. In particular,
contact non-member participants in our meets from previous years. If you
are interested in helping with the meet contact Anthony James (Anthony.James@mecklenburgcountync.gov),
or just show up at 9:00 on April 14 at JCSU.

Volunteers are needed to
help with the UNCC track meet this Saturday March 31. Please contact

f you can help. CT&FC benefits from the use of the UNCC track for
practices, and this is our main way to pay them back. Here is the
schedule of events.

Win Gold and Silver at the 2007 USATF Masters Indoor
Championships in Boston
Three of our elite members
had great success at the 2007 USATF Masters Indoor Championships held in Boston March 23-25.
Regina Richardson (W40) won gold medals in the triple jump, the long jump, and
the 60 meter hurdle events, and a silver medal in the 60 meter dash.
Gerald Vaughn (M70) won the gold medal in the shot put. Anthony Searles (M50) won the silver medal in the 60 meter dash in
a speedy 7.59 seconds. Congratulations, and
thank you for representing CT&FC so well in Boston.

Club
Membership for 2007
Club membership dues for
2007 have been set at $20. If you were a member in 2006 all you need to
do is mail Ken Bender a check for $20. Ken’s address is 1104 Bellegrove
Place, Charlotte NC 28270. If you were not a
member in 2006, please fill out the form on the Club website so we can get all
the needed information, and then send your check to Ken. You will also
need to join USATF to compete in meets.
USATF Southeastern
Region Masters Championship – April 20-21 Savannah
GA
The USATF Southeastern
Region Masters Championship will be held in Savannah GA
on April 20-21. This was held in Durham
in 2006, and the CT&FC won the Club Trophy. Information is on the
USATF website (usatf.org).
Master’s Meet
in Durham May
4&5
The 37th Annual
BB&T Bob Boal Masters & Open Track and Field
Meet will be held in Durham
on May 4&5. April 27th is the registration
deadline. CT&FC won the team championship last year, and it
would be great to make a good showing again this year. The Board of
Directors will be deciding on providing transportation to this meet.
South Carolinas Masters and Open
Track & Field Championships – June 23, 2007
This meet will be held at Winthrop University
in Rock Hill SC
– real close to Charlotte.
The registration deadline is June 8. There is no excuse for not having a
large turnout from our Club at this meet. Put it on your calendar.
Throwers
Meets in Winston-Salem
– May 26 and July 14
Throwers meets will be
sponsored by CT&FC at Hanes Park in Winston-Salem
on May 26 and July 14, starting at 10:00 a.m. Bring your own
implements. The meet is not sanctioned, but the marks count for
rankings. There is no fee. Take Business I-40, exit on Broad St, go right, six lights to Northwest Boulevard. Hanes Park
is on the left. Contact is Bill Gramley

North Carolina Senior Games
The North Carolina Senior
Games are for those older than age 55. The website is www.ncseniorgames.org. The Mecklenburg County regional qualifying dates are
April 19 through May 12. There are many sports – not just track and
field. If you qualify at the regionals the
finals are in Raleigh on September 27 and 28.
Club
Practice Schedule
The official Club practice
is 9:00 – 12:00 a.m. on Saturdays at the UNCC
track, weather permitting. Several members are also training on Tuesday
and Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00.
