Welcome New Members !
Welcome to our
new members Michael DeBo, John deSilva,
Leonard Hilliard, Rouchinet Jacobs, Mark Kerr,
Bethany Martin, Billy Martin, Scott Paulk, Darrell
Wells, Dale Winters, and Debbie Winters. We hope to see you out at the
UNCC track for practices and at our meet at Johnson C. Smith on April 19.
You can browse previous club newsletters as well as all CT&FC info on our
website www.carolinastrackandfield.org. The website was updated this week and all
information is current. There are a large number of USATF sanctioned
outdoor masters track and field events scheduled in
the southeastern U. S.
this spring and summer. We are also expecting up to ten additional open
T&F meets on weekday evenings in Charlotte
beginning in June. Those meets will be posted when that information
becomes available.
CT&FC to
Host 7th Annual Carolinas Masters
Invitational on April 19, 2008
The Carolinas
Track &Field Club, along with the Charlotte Department of Parks and
Recreation, will host the 7th Annual Carolinas Masters Invitational
on April 19, 2008 at the Irwin Belk Track facility at the Johnson C. Smith
University in Charlotte North Carolina. This meet is open to USATF
members age 30 and older, will be sanctioned by USATF, and will include FAT
timing. Medals will be awarded in each age division for all events.
There is no cost for 2008 CFT&FC members, and the cost for non-members is
$20. The meet registration form (attached below) has also
been be posted on
the CT&FC website. Anthony James will be the meet director. The
meet has been advertised
on the USATF and Masters Track websites, and in the
National Masters News. Your assistance
is spreading the word and inviting your masters track
and field friends to our meet is needed. We regret that the JCSU venue cannot accommodate
the hammer throw event as has been requested by some members.
For those of you
that are not competing in the meet, the Club really needs you to volunteer at
the meet. All you need to do is show up at 9:00 at the JCSU track on
April 19. We need
volunteers for running and scoring the field events, for posting results, for
handing out medals, for answering questions, to help the meet director, etc.

Members Needed as Volunteers at the Charlotte
49er Classic - March 21 and 22
The CT&FC
Board of Directors strongly encourages members to volunteer at the UNCC track
on Friday and Saturday March 21 and 22, as the UNCC track team hosts the 2008 Charlotte 49er
Classic. We are mostly needed to help with the field events (raking the
jump pits, pulling tape, retrieving implements, recording records, and others).
Refer to the attached schedule for events and times. On Friday the field
events are from noon to around 6 p.m., and on Saturday the field events are
from 10:00 a.m. to around 2:00 p.m. Volunteers are to show up 30 minutes
prior to the event at the meeting room above the stands. UNCC allows us
to practice on their track, and this is our opportunity to give back.
Please make time on your calendar to volunteer. Contact Stacey Ashton
(704-427-2458 / Stacey.r.ashton@wachovia.com) or Coach Bob Olesen
(704-687-6315 / rjolesen@uncc.edu) to inform them of the dates and times that you will
volunteer. Thank you!

Time & Mark Trials – March 15 at UNCC
The Club will
have informal time and mark trials on Saturday March 15 from 10:00 to noon at
the UNCC track. All are welcome, and don’t worry about what kind of
time or mark you will post. If you can’t compete you can help time
and measure and cheer on your fellow club members. This is for fun, so
don’t worry about what kind of shape you are in.
USATF and
