CT&FC Informal Meet Saturday March 10 at the UNCC Track

The Club will have an informal meet on Saturday March 10 at the UNCC track beginning at 10:00 a.m.  For those of you headed to Boston for the indoor championships, this will be a time/performance trial opportunity for you.  For those of you that have been waiting for the weather to warm up, come on out to renew friendships even if you aren’t ready to compete yet, and maybe just run or jump or throw for fun, or help officiate.  The event schedule will be the indoor events (60, 60h, 200, 400, 800, 1600 (or mile), shot put, long jump, high jump, triple jump, and pole vault.  Bring your stop watches and measuring tapes and get back into track & field.  Attached is the Club schedule for 2007.

Club Membership for 2007

Club membership dues for 2007 have been set at $20.  If you were a member in 2006 all you need to do is mail Ken Bender a check for $20.  Ken’s address is 1104 Bellegrove Place, Charlotte NC 28270.  If you were not a member in 2006, please wait for the membership form on the website to be updated so we can get all the necessary information from you on the application.  Attached is the anticipated Club membership for 2007.

USATF Masters Indoor Championship in Boston MA

The USATF Masters Indoor Championship will be held March 23-25 in Boston MA.  The registration deadline is March 12.   See the USATF website calendar for information.

Carolina Masters Invitational at JCSU April 14 - Tentative

The Board will soon be discussing firming up the meet on April 14 at JCSU.  Stay tuned.  You will need to be a 2007 member of USATF to compete.

Master’s Meet in Durham May 4&5

The 37^th Annual BB&T Bob Boal Masters & Open Track and Field Meet will be held in Durham on May 4&5.   April 27^th is the registration deadline.   CT&FC won the team championship last year, and it would be great to make a good showing again this year.  The Board of Directors will be deciding on providing transportation to this meet.  Meet information is attached.

USATF 2007 Membership Card Mailing is Delayed

USATF is late on mailing out the 2007 membership cards, supposedly due to the change in logo (no I’m not kidding).  You can obtain your 2007 membership number from their website.  Your 2007 number is needed to compete in USATF sanctioned meets.

Volunteer Opportunity to Support UNCC Track & Field

Volunteers are needed to help with UNCC track meets.  Contact Stacey Ashton (Stacey.r.ashton@wachovia.com / (704) 427-2458.  Part of the deal for CT&FC having access to the UNCC track for practice is that we help out with their meets.  Here are the dates.

Club Practice Schedule

The official Club practice is 10:00 – 12:00 a.m. on Saturdays at the UNCC track, weather permitting.  Several members are also training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00.
