REPLY REQUESTED ASAP REGARDING YOUR PARTICIPATION

IN THE JUNE 9 MEET AT UNCC – PLEASE REPLY BY E-MAIL TODAY

The CT&FC has been planning to hold a masters track & field meet at UNCC on Saturday June 9.  The UNCC track has been reserved and the schedule of events will include hammer and superweight throws in addition to the regular full schedule of events.  Before formally announcing this meet we need to know that we will have enough participation from the CT&FC membership.  At the April 14 meet at JCSU we had only 18 CT&FC members participate.  Non-members including many from GA, VA, MD, and NY outnumbered CT&FC participants, and due to them the meet was successful, but smaller than we hoped for.  There was only one female participant.  Two members have informed that they are participating in the North Carolina State Games that weekend instead.  Please reply to this e-mail TODAY to advise if you will or will not be participating in the June 9 meet.  A decision will then be made as to moving forward with the meet.

Club Membership for 2007

Club membership dues for 2007 have been set at $20.  At present about 30 members have paid for 2007.  If you were a member in 2006 all you need to do is mail Ken Bender a check for $20.  Ken’s address is 1104 Bellegrove Place, Charlotte NC 28270.  If you were not a member in 2006, please fill out the form on the Club website so we can get all the needed information, and then send your check to Ken.  You will also need to join USATF to compete in meets.

CT&FC Website  - New Photo Gallery

Regina Richardson has suggested that we need to enhance the CT&FC website (carolinastrackandfield.org) with photos.  We need your photos for the new website photo gallery.  Send them to Gregg Swindlehurst.

USATF Southeastern Region Masters Championship – April 20-21 Savannah GA

Bob Rockwell and Gerald Vaughn represented CT&FC in Savannah.  Bob posted performances of 1.48m in the high jump, 4.85m in the long jump, and 10.82m in the triple jump.  Gerald putted the shot 15.08m.  Congratulations to Bob and Gerald for their gold medal winning efforts!

South Carolinas Masters and Open Track & Field Championships – June 23, 2007

This meet will be held at Winthrop University in Rock Hill SC – real close to Charlotte.  The registration deadline is June 8.  The CT&FC membership should really turn out for this meet.  Put it on your calendar.

Club Practice Schedule

The official Club practice is 9:00 – 12:00 a.m. on Saturdays at the UNCC track, weather permitting.  Several members are also training on some weekday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00.
