Results of the Southeastern Masters Meet – May 2&3, Raleigh

Eighteen members of CT&FC competed at the Southeastern Masters Meet in Raleigh on May 2&3.  Their performances resulted in gold medals in 23 events, which was a strong showing for the Club.  Some of the best times/marks included Bill Gramley’s (M72) meet record of 39.23m in the discus, and 14.25m in the weight throw.  Bob Rockwell (M57) posted winning marks in the high jump (1.45m), long jump (4.59m), and triple jump (10.66m).  New member Rouchinet (Jake) Jacobs (M35) ran fast times in the 100m (11.62s) and the 400m (53.71s).  Long-time member Sam Hall (M63) ran a fast 200m (27.90).

Club Practice Schedule – IMPORTANT CHANGE

The UNCC track is now closed for resurfacing.  The Club will use the JCSU track as an interim practice location on Saturday mornings from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and on weekdays from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.  There is the possibility that some events may be scheduled on certain Saturday mornings.  We will advise when the UNCC track can be used again, which is expected to be in about four weeks.

USATF and CT&FC Membership Dues for 2008

The Board of Directors has set the Club membership dues for 2008 at $20 per family.  Membership is restricted to age 21 or older and resident in the U. S.  Checks made out to CT&FC can be mailed to Ken Bender at 1104 Bellegrove Place, Charlotte, NC 28270.  You can join USATF via their website (www.usatf.org).

The CT&FC membership at this time consists of 53 athletes.  New members can join through the Club website www.carolinastrackandfield.org.

There are no changes to the schedule.  Note the May 13 registration deadline for the meet in Greenville SC.

Volunteers Needed at UNCC for the USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championship – June 24-29
