Club Practice Schedule Saturdays at the UNCC Track

The regular Club practice schedule is 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the UNCC track.  Some members are also informally practicing on some weekday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m.

Results of SC Masters / Open Track & Field Championship – Rock Hill SC June 23, 2007

It was hot and windy at Winthrop on June 23, but a good meet overall.  The following 17 CT&FC members participated:  Ken Bender, Jim Halverson, Mike DeMarte, Dan Linker, Billy Martin, Terry Martin, Dave Oman, Tim Rhyne, Bob Rockwell, Kevin Rumble, Jim Russ, Chris Sarsony, Doc Searles, Gregg Swindlehurst, Gerald Vaughn, Rebecca Vaughn, and Fred Weber.  Complete results are attached below.  Club highlights were many:  Doc Searles ran 11.77 in the 100m (93.2% age-graded) which was the best performance by anyone in any event.  Mike DeMarte threw the discus 157ft, which was a PR.  Terry Martin met the all-american standard in the long jump.  Bill Halverson, Jim Russ, Tim Rhyne, and Dave Oman made some good heights in the pole vault despite strong and shifting winds.  Bob Rockwell exceeded the 11m mark in the triple jump for the first time this year.  Chris Sarsony competed in all five pentathlon events.

Charlotte Track Series at UNCC Starts Tuesday July 3

The UNCC Track Team will be sponsoring all-comers meets at the UNCC track all five Tuesdays in July.  Registration begins at 5:00 and the meet starts at 6:00.  The schedule of events is 100m, 800m, 4 x 100m relay, 200m, mile, 400m, 3000m, and 4 x 400m relay.  The cost is $4 and you may enter three events.  This is an excellent opportunity for CT&FC to compete on our home track.  Let’s have a big turnout!  The UNCC contact for information is Brad Herbster (704) 687-6314  BJHerbst@email.uncc.edu.  The meet announcement is on the following website  www.Charlotte49ers.com (click on “men’s sports / track & field / 2007 summer series)

Tentative CT&FC Meet In July

Todd Haire, Club President, has the lead on arranging a meet in July. 

USATF Master Outdoor Championships – Orono ME – August 2-5

Entries (to avoid the $50 late fee) are due July 13.

Club Membership for 2007

The Club dues for 2007 are $20.  If you were a member in 2006 all you need to do is mail Ken Bender a check for $20.  Ken’s address is 1104 Bellegrove Place, Charlotte NC 28270.  If you were not a member in 2006, please fill out the form on the Club website so we can get all the needed information, and then send your check to Ken.  You will also need to join USATF to compete in meets.
