CHANGE  June Summer Track Series in Charlotte on Tuesday Evenings Now at Myers Park High School

The Charlotte Track & Triathlon Club is hosting their summer track series on Tuesday evenings through June 24.  The Charlotte Observer sports section now shows that these meets have returned to the Myers Park High School Track (rather than the adjacent Alexander Graham Middle School).  More information is available at http://www.charlottetrackandtriclub.org/SummerTrack/2008/SummerTrack.asp, but the website does not yet indicate the change back to Myers Park High School Note that I was unable to get confirmation of this location change today due to the short notice.

Results of the Atlanta Track & Field Classic – June 7 – Emory University, Atlanta GA

Seven members of CT&FC competed at the Atlanta Track and Field Classic on June 7 at Emory University in Atlanta.  For the second straight year temperatures were in the high 90s and well above that on the track surface.  CT&FC members placed well at this very enjoyable meet.  Bob Rockwell (M55) placed first in all three jumps.  Sam Hall (M60) easily won the 100m and the 200m.  Dan Linker (M55) placed first in the shot put and the discus.  Gregg Swindlehurst (M50) placed first in the 400m, second in the 400m hurdles, and third in the 100m and the 200m.  Michael Kountze (M45) placed second in the 200m.  Also competing were Mark Kerr (M40) and Michael DeBo (M45) n the 200m.  CT&FC member results. are attached, with complete results on the Atlanta Track Club’s website (www.atlantatrackclub.org).

Plan to Compete at the SC Open/Masters Track & Field Championship on 6/28 at Winthrop University

An excellent master’s meet very close to Charlotte will be held on June 28 at Winthrop University in Rock Hill.  This meet helps CT&FC out a great deal by allowing us compete at a second meet near Charlotte.  Rather than CT&FC take on all the work and cost of hosting a second meet at this time of year, we can take advantage of this meet and let them do all the work.  Supporting this meet with a great CT&FC member turnout every year is a very good thing for CT&FC.  The Winthrop facility is excellent and they have a good officiating crew too!  The registration deadline is June 20.  The entry form
