Club Practice Schedule Saturdays at the UNCC Track

The regular Club practice schedule is 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the UNCC track.  Some members are also informally practicing on some weekday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m.

Charlotte Track Series Concludes at UNCC on Tuesday July 31

The UNCC Track Team has sponsored all-comers meets at the UNCC track all Tuesdays in July.  The final meet is July 31.  Registration begins at 5:00 and the meet starts at 6:00.  The schedule of events is 100m, 800m, 4 x 100m relay, 200m, mile, 400m, 3000m, and 4 x 400m relay.  The cost is $4 and you may enter three events.  The UNCC contact for information is Brad Herbster (704) 687-6314  BJHerbst@email.uncc.edu.  The meet announcement is on the following website  www.Charlotte49ers.com (click on “men’s sports / track & field / 2007 summer series).

USATF Master Outdoor Championships – Orono ME – August 2-5

The following eleven Club members are competing in the USATF Masters Outdoor Championships at the University of Maine August 2-5:  Mike DeMarte, Bill Gramley, Liz Johnson, Kris Kazebee, Paul Kinny, Bob Rockwell, Chris Sarsony, Anthony Searles, Gregg Swindlehurst, Stefan Waltermann, and Jameson Wells.  Best wishes to all of these competitors – and bring home some medals!

Results of 2007 Masters Combined Events Championships – Birmingham AL – June 9&10

At the 2007 Masters Combined Events Championship Jim Russ placed first in the 50-54 age bracket with 6707 points.  Stefan Waltermann placed third in the 55-59 age bracket with 4819 points.  Congratulations to Jim and Stefan, and best wishes at the World Championships in Italy.

Results of National Seniors Games – Louisville KY

At the National Seniors Games in Louisville KY, Bill Gramley won the discus for men 70-74 with 37.22 and got 4th in the hammer at 33.61.  Congratulations to Bill on this excellent performance!

Welcome to New Club Members

The Club would like to welcome new members Eric Seay, Jeff Elwell, and Sharon Lloyd.  Former club presidents Jim Russ and Fred Weber have also rejoined.  Their past experience and enthusiasm will be a great help.

 

Club Membership for 2007

The Club dues for 2007 are $20.  If you were a member in 2006 all you need to do is mail Ken Bender a check for $20.  Ken’s address is 1104 Bellegrove Place, Charlotte NC 28270.  If you were not a member in 2006, please fill out the form on the Club website so we can get all the needed information, and then send your check to Ken.  You will also need to join USATF to compete in meets.  The current Club roster is attached.
