That date was decided on to decrease the workload on our club Treasurer. Please send a check

As in the past, if you joined the club and paid your 2011 dues after August 31, 2011, your
membership will be extended through 2012. Additionally, it is also time to think about
renewing your USATF membership - since you will have to be a current 2012 USATF member to

New INDOOR track & field facility coming soon!
Some of you may have heard, a new indoor track and field
facility is under development in Winston-Salem, NC with a completion date set for
January, 2012.
For those that do not know, the facility is being built by a private developer in
Winston-Salem with an interest in track and field. They have purchased a former
Jostens printing operation that is being converted into an indoor track and field
complex. The building is approximately 105,000 square feet. They are installing a
200m flat Mondo track, the installation of which was scheduled to begin on December
5, 2011.
The oval track will consist of six (6) 42 inch lanes, with eight (8) lanes on the sprint
straightaway. Located on the infield will be a throws area, high jump area, two (2)
pole vault runways and two (2) long/triple jump runways. In addition to these areas,
there will be a 100m Mondo straightaway that can be used by athletes as a warm-up
track in preparation for their events.
Hurdles and pits have been purchased from UCS, and a FinishLynx system with dual
cameras will be permanently installed. Additionally, a sound system and video system
for reporting results will be installed.
Bleacher capacity for just under 1,000 people will be installed immediately, with
additional capacity available in the future. Restroom facilities will include eight
(8) urinals and six (6) toilets for men, and eighteen (18) toilets for women.
The facility is conveniently located approximately 3 miles off Interstate 40 Exit 189,
with ten (10) hotels within a three mile driving distance. There will be approximately
350 parking spaces on-site. The indoor facility is situated in an industrial park that
is relatively empty in the evenings and on weekends, so overflow parking for buses will
be available on the street.

Toccata Murphy Wins 3rd Place at World Games in Sacramento

Congratulations to club member Toccata Murphy who placed 3rd in the W40 100m at the World
Games in Sacramento last week with a time of 13.14. She also placed 4th in the W40 200m with
a time of 27.55, missing the bronze medal by less than a tenth of a second!
